5 on friday: anna francese gass

Every Friday, we will be asking a fellow #girlboss five simple questions about business, the passion behind her brand and what motivates her to get out of bed in the morning.

We invite you today to meet our client (and Jen's college gal pal) Anna Francese Gass. She's an accomplished chef, recipe tester and the blogger behind Anna's Heirloom Kitchen.

name | Anna Francese Gass

company | Anna's Heirloom Kitchen

years in business | 3 years

1 | When did you consider yourself a success? My second year in business. Once my project started gaining momentum, my website went up and people started taking notice of what I was doing, I felt like the project had meaning and a clear purpose.  Every time I schedule a new appointment with a new grandmother to cook with, I feel a renewed sense of success.

2 | What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? Celebrating the lives of immigrants, sharing their recipes and stories and creating a platform where people start to realize that everything we see, touch and eat in the country can be traced back to a hard working immigrant.  So let’s respect and honor that right?

3 | What is a skill you’d like to learn and why?  I would love to learn how to knit. I’ve tried but can’t seem to get the hang of it.  Wait, was this supposed to be a professional skill??

4 | How would your friends describe you? I think people would say I’m funny, caring and a bit neurotic.  But I think a little crazy is a good thing.  Sane is very overrated.

5 | What is your favorite quote? “I’m just trying to matter.” - June Carter Cash. Because that is simply what all of us are trying to do.
