5 on friday: rachael spiegel
Every Friday, we will be asking a fellow #girlboss five simple questions about business, the passion behind her brand and what motivates her to get out of bed in the morning.
We invite you today to meet our friend and fellow mompreneur Rachael Spiegel. Through her business Rachael Spiegel Photography she has spent the past 14 years photographing over one hundred B'nai Mitzvah celebrations. She adores the families, the kids, the parties and most importantly, the significance of marking a milestone in a young person's life.

years in business | 14 years
1 | When did you consider yourself a success? I considered myself a success when I decided to specialize in B’nai Mitzvah photography after 10 years of photographing news, portraits and events. The clarity that came with making the decision to turn down all other jobs and do only what I love was liberating. That aha moment led to greater consistency in my work, stronger relationships with vendors and a more joyful approach to each shoot.
2 | What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? I consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to capture the joy a family feels while celebrating a huge milestone. The trust families place in me makes me want to go above and beyond for my clients. From beginning to end my goal is to put a smile on their faces.
3 | What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? To paint. I took some classes when I was younger and find painting so relaxing.
4 | How would your friends describe you? Determined, energetic, optimistic, organized, and creative.
5 | What is your favorite quote? “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” - Maya Angelou
ding, ding, ding! bonus question | If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be?My children up in the chair during the hora at their bar and bat mitzvah. They are so sweet and outgoing, I can’t wait for them to be surrounded by all the love I get to photograph every weekend.
