5 on friday: danielle benson

Every Friday, we will be asking a fellow #girlboss five simple questions about business, the passion behind her brand and what motivates her to get out of bed in the morning.

We invite you today to meet Danielle Benson of Danielle Sara Photography, a Maryland-based photographer, specializing in newborn and baby photography. Started in 2010, her business has grown to provide both in-studio and on-location options, focusing on offering high quality products and amazing portraiture.

As a mother of two, Danielle understands the importance of capturing the moments that pass by too quickly. She believes these are family heirlooms and that it is increasingly important, in this digital age, to print what we want to preserve.

1 | When did you consider yourself a success? I would say I considered my business to be a success the first time I had a returning client.  This meant I had a happy customer. I was doing something right with not only my artwork but my entire customer experience.  This is something I always strive for and it continues to be a goal with every family that I photograph.

2 | What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? I am not a morning person or a huge coffee drinker so it takes a lot! But having two young children to take care of plus running a successful business is all I need.  I feel better when I’m busy and checking things off the to do list.

3 | What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? I’d love to learn how to paint. I use the basic foundations of painting in my photography, such as lines and color, so I’d love to be able to apply these concepts in a different medium.

4 | How would your friends describe you? Caring, creative, loyal, passionate, optimistic, and maybe a little indecisive (but I’m working on it!)

5 | What is your favorite quote? “Get right to the heart of matters, it’s the heart that matters more.” - Counting Crows
