5 on friday: rhonda labatt
Every Friday, we will be asking a fellow #girlboss five simple questions about business, the passion behind her brand and what motivates her to get out of bed in the morning.
We invite you today to meet Rhonda LaBatt of Redemption Market, a boutique featuring a variety of fair trade gifts. They choose only the highest quality products, focusing on sustainability and ethical treatment of the designers and artisans. Every purchase makes a difference and is a step toward recovery and rehabilitation.
Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Redemption Market touches lives around the world. We have a great love for the localist movement, community involvement, and sharing with those less fortunate.

1 | When did you consider yourself a success? I’ve never really considered that I am a “success,” but I certainly consider my work with trafficked women to be meaningful, important, and successful, even if it doesn’t always line up with what the world tells you is success.
2 | What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? Aside from coffee, I love my work! It’s so varied, and I get to meet so many interesting and unique people. Sometimes I can’t believe that it’s an actual career.
3 | What is a skill you’d like to learn and why? Probably no one knows this, but I would love to learn basic coding to create websites.
4 | How would your friends describe you? Hopefully they would say that I’m fun and generous, funny and caring. And maybe a little crazy?
5 | What is your favorite quote? “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” –Mother Teresa
ding, ding, ding! bonus question | If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be? I would love to travel to the future and see my descendants and how my legacy is carried out in their lives, and what happens to this business I created.
